Sandra Bourdonnec was born in France; of French-Caribbean and Italian descent, she studied drama at the Cours Florent in Paris. In 2013, she moved to Berlin, where she learned German and embarked on a new career as an actress and singer in Germany. She is also a playwright and screenwriter and wrote and directed her first feature film »Laisse le Vent emporter tout«, with support from the Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg. In 2014, she co-founded the Kino Loop collective in Berlin as a platform to support independent filmmakers and organized a Kino Kabaret for five years. Sandra has also appeared in German television and film productions, notably in Ilker Çatak’s »Es gilt das gesprochene Wort«, which was nominated for the 2020 German Film Award. In theatre, she has performed in works such as Thomas Ostermeier’s »Die Italienische Nacht«. Since 2019, she has participated in several projects at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin, including the Political Voice Institute. Since 2021, she has appeared in Marta Górnicka’s production »Still life: the chorus for animals, people and all other lives«. Also a singer and musician, she and her three musical companions — the trio known as DRIFTINGS — are preparing their first Album featuring electro indie pop sounds. She is also collaborating with the Quartet Wooden Elephant on the project »Lemonade«, a reinterpretation of Lemonade in which classical musicians perform arrangements from the album alongside spoken-word and poetry slam texts written by Beyoncé. For now, she is based in Barcelona, drawn by a new life, a new culture, and new artistic challenges and aspirations.
