Partizipative Demonstration Performance mit Darren O’Donnell, Gründer und künstlerischer Leiter von Mammalian Diving Reflex, CAN
Im Zuge der Demonstration Performance „Everyone is Interesting“ erfahren wir die Grundannahme der Arbeiten der Performance Company Mammalian Diving Reflex: jede*r ist interessant. Darren O’Donnell, künstlerischer Leiter, erläutert deren Umsetzung im kreativen Prozess, in der Arbeit selbst und in den organisatorischen Abläufen der Company. Bei »Everyone is Interesting« werden die Teilnehmenden in Bewegung gebracht und machen einen kurzen Ausflug raus in die Welt, um festzustellen, dass es an jedem Menschen etwas Interessantes zu entdecken gibt.
‘Everyone is Interesting’ is a participatory demonstration performance that shares the performance company Mammalian Diving Reflex’s key assumption: everyone is interesting. Artistic Director, Darren O’Donnell, will share how this assumption is implemented within the creative process, within the work itself, and the company’s operations. Everyone is Interesting will get the audience up onto their feet, and briefly out into the world where they will discover that, indeed, everyone is interesting.
Darren O'Donnell ist ein städtischer Kulturplaner, Romanautor, Essayist, Dramatiker, Filmemacher, Performance-Regisseur und der künstlerische Leiter und Gründer von Mammalian Diving Reflex. Zu seinen Büchern gehören: »Your Secrets Sleep with Me« (2004); »Social Acupuncture« (2006), in denen er für eine Ästhetik des bürgerschaftlichen Engagements plädiert; und »Haircuts by Children and Other Evidence for a New Social Contract« (2018), in dem er den Kultursektor als Pilotprojekt für einen neuen Gesellschaftsvertrag mit Kindern vorschlägt. Zu seinen Performance-Arbeiten gehören »Haircuts by Children«, »All the Sex I’ve Ever Had«, »The Children’s Choice Awards« und »Teentalitarianism«. Sein Modell für eine langfristige Zusammenarbeit mit jungen Menschen wird in London, Bochum, Mailand und Berlin angewandt.
Darren O'Donnell is an urban cultural planner, novelist, essayist, playwright, filmmaker, performance director and the artistic director and founder of Mammalian Diving Reflex. His books include: ‘Your Secrets Sleep with Me’ (2004); ‘Social Acupuncture’ (2006), in which he argues for an aesthetic of civic engagement; and ‘Haircuts by Children and Other Evidence for a New Social Contract’ (2018), in which he proposes the cultural sector as a pilot project for a new social contract with children. His performance work includes ‘Haircuts by Children’, ‘All the Sex I’ve Ever Had’, ‘The Children’s Choice Awards’ and ‘Teentalitarianism’. His model for long-term collaboration with young people is used in London, Bochum, Milan and Berlin.
