We continue to actively promote collaboration between the National Theatre pedagogues and their students. We would like to give teachers the opportunity to explore the world of theatre as it ties into their courses. We offer special programs catered to different age groups and we welcome all schools to participate. With the programs provided, youth have the opportunity to discover and reflect upon The National Theatre’s five branches: opera, drama, ballet, youth opera and Schnawwl.
For the youngest pupils (grades 1-4) we developed a program called “Theatre starter” consisting of instructions, guided tours and special performances appropriately adapted for each age group. Therefore the pupils can get a taste for theatre at an early age.
For students in grades 5-8 we created our “Enter Program”. In this introductory course we offer an interesting discovery tour which encourages students to get to know each and every corner of the theatre, names of performances and get involved in discussions especially developed for this age group.
Ninth graders and up become more deeply connected to the theatre through our “Mentoring Program”. Additionally, classes have the option of transforming into so called “production classes” within any branch of the theatre (opera, ballet or drama). This is a chance for students to take a deeper look into the work of our artists.
Information on courses and programs can be found online, in our programme, or in our monthly Leporellos—a special service with “theatre curriculum” which we offer and recommend teachers to subscribe to.
Your feedback is very much welcomed and appreciated as we are constantly trying to improve and develop our program.
We wish you and your pupils many pleasant and inspiring moments at our theatre.
We are happy to provide further information upon request.
