
The Company
Since 2002 Ballett Mannheim has been under the directorship of the American choreographer Kevin O’Day and of his associate, the Canadian choreographer Dominique Dumais. Since then, the 14 dancer company has developed an original, contemporary repertoire, with no less then three original creations a year. Consequently, the company has over 30 original works in its repertoire. On tour, in the region and for its devoted Mannheim audience Kevin O’Day Ballett Nationaltheater Mannheim performs an average of 65 times a year.
Touring and venues
In the past nine years Kevin O’Day Ballett Nationaltheater Mannheim has been invited to several dance festivals. Among which are, the Holland Dance Festival in The Hague, the Suzanne Dellal Centre in Tel Aviv, the Sintra-Festival of Portugal, The Cairo Opera in Egypt, and the Tanzplattform in Stuttgart Germany. The company has also been invited to perform, among others, in Kiel, Bonn, Giessen, Karlsruhe, Augsburg and Frankfurt.
In order to reach a broad audience and to enrich the community Kevin O’Day Ballett Nationaltheater Mannheim often performs in alternative spaces and venues, such as art galleries, museums, parks and other outdoor spaces.
